Victorious Festival 2019 Preview
Victorious Festival returns to Southsea’s iconic seafront serving up musical experiences with a side of family fun against a seaside backdrop – what more could you ask for this bank holiday weekend!?
Portsmouth’s Victorious has only gone from strength to strength, and we expect this year to be no different. Boasting an impressive line-up each day including huge acts such as The Specials on Friday, Rudimental on Saturday and New Order closing the festival on Sunday evening. Across the 3-day festival you can also catch Two Door Cinema Club, Professor Green, Instagram’s favourite scot, Lewis Capaldi, The Twang, Tom Grennan, Plan B and All Saints as afternoon special guests on the Saturday, something we’re looking forward to. Basically the Victorious organisers know exactly how to put on a proper festival line-up.
If those don’t take your fancy (not sure why they wouldn’t), Victorious also offers a wide variety of other stages and stalls, showcasing both local talent at the Seaside stage and more international vibes at the World Music Village. If you like discovering new music then make sure you get down early and catch Scarlet Town open the festival on the Saturday on the Acoustic Stage, you should also keep an eye out for Harvey Jay Dodgson, Emilia Tarrant, Flowvers and Jerry Williams across the weekend.
There are over 20 areas for festival-goers to explore across the weekend; from the main stage arenas where you can enjoy the top artists, to the skatepark where extreme demos will be hosted to the champagne bar in Southsea Castle – yes if you’ve not been before then you can enjoy a glass of champers in an actual 16th century castle while listening to an amazing lineup of DJs. Away from the music you can check out the comedy tent for all of the LOL’s, the circus for all of the madness and the food court for all of the, well, food.. we’re promised we’ll be spoilt for choice which we’re more than happy about.
If you’re there with the family then you’re certainly going to be in the right place, shortlisted in the UK Festival Awards for Best Family Festival in 2015, 2016 & 2018, there is a whole arena dedicated to keeping the kids happy. Expect to see Octonauts, Mr Bloom, Peppa Pig and Bumblebee across the weekend, just make sure you have the cameras ready so people actually believe you. The youngsters can also enjoy Roller Discos at Southsea Skatepark, assault courses, Jedi training and a bunch more.
The other great thing about Victorious Festival is that it operates a re-admission policy until 8pm which means if you live local you can pop home or check out what Southsea has to offer (which is a lot). This year you also have the chance to camp off-site, situated just off the motorway on the way into Portsmouth there will be a free shuttle bus taking campers to and from the festival. Promising a relaxed and family-friendly environment this is a pretty perfect way to introduce young festival-goers to the full festival experience.
Don’t sleep on it, head over to Victorious’ website to see the full list of what’s on offer (because if we listed everything, we’d still be going) as this definitely not one to miss – especially when tickets are only £45 per day.
