Camp Bestival 2019 Preview

Camp Bestival is a multi award-winning, family festival jam-packed with fun, frolics and fancy dress. The team behind Bestival launched this festival 11 years ago and it’s still going strong, attracting throngs of festival-goers each year from around the UK.

Set in the magnificent grounds of Lulworth Castle, located in the heart of Dorest, Camp Bestival offers something for the whole family, from the teeny-tinies to the seasoned revellers.

So, what’s on offer at Camp Bestival?

Anything and everything. There’s so much do, we’re wondering if 3 days will be enough!

This year’s theme is Heroes vs. Superheroes so we’ll be donning our Wonder Woman and Bat Girl costumes complete with plenty of glitter and sparkles.

The great thing about Camp Bestival is, it’s not just about the music (even though there’s always a stellar line-up). There’s comedy, theatre, wellness and fitness, parenting and author talks, poetry and a whole “garden” dedicated to the kiddies.

This year’s headliners are Nile Rodgers & Chic, Lewis Capaldi (this guy is awesome), Jess Glynne, Annie Mac and The Human League. It’s going to be epic. Find the full line-up here.

And for the younger guests, there will be performances from Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit, Sam & Mark and Camp Bestival legend, Mr Tumble.

If you’re feeling brave you can try your hand at swinging through the sky with the Gorilla Circus Flying Trapeze School or bouncing on the world’s biggest bouncy castle.

Rather than gorging on burgers and beer, try Spinbox, a disco-inspired spinning class where you cycle to electric beats – now that’s sure to burn some extra calories!

For a more zen experience, get yourself down to the Slow Motion arena, where the daily agenda is about re-energising and re-balancing. Think yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, sleep science talks and mindful running. After some serious chillaxing, you’ll be ready to brave the mosh pit!

The kiddies are spoilt for choice. They can learn circus skills at the Big Top Mania, play with glitter and paint to their hearts content in the Craft Tent, run riot in the soft play or enjoy a ride at the vintage fairground. To encourage screen-free time, the festival has designed a brand-new area called Wild Tribe. It’s a space where kids can get down and dirty with nature and experience a Bear Grills adventure. Be prepared for muddy mayhem!

Whatever your flavour, Camp Bestival’s got you covered.

What’s on the menu at Camp Bestival?

Camp Bestival doesn’t just put on great entertainment, the grub is amazing too! Whether you love a good meat BBQ or vegan is more your bag, the festival food won’t disappoint. Check out the Feast Collective, the best street food you can find – it’s a foodie’s paradise! You can also mooch around the farmer’s market or feast on a range of other delightful cuisines including Ghanaian, Mexican, Venezuelan, Indonesian and Vietnamese. Who says you need to get on a plane and fly thousands of miles to taste the local delicacies!

After you’ve filled your belly, be sure to visit Thatchers Cider ExperienceandRob & Josie’s Gin Festival where you can choose from 50 different types of gin – the cocktails are divine.

Camping or Glamping at Camp Bestival?

There’s a whole host of “accommodation” at Camp Bestival, something to suit everyone’s style and budget. You can go hardcore like us and opt for bringing your own tent – just rock-up and scramble for the best pitch. Or if glamping is more your style, choose from a variety of boutique options including tipis, yurts, podpads, Bedouin tents and gypsy bowtop caravans. You can expect pure luxury (think beds, linen, pillows and carpet) but expect to pay top dollar. The campsites open on the Thursday so you can get set up and settled before the fun kicks off on the Friday.
