Boardmasters 2019 Preview
Cornwall’s very own surf and music festival is back with a bang for the 2019 edition which will see five days of action sports and live music headlined by Wu-Tang Clan, Florence + the Machine and Foals.
Taking place from Wednesday 7th through to Sunday 11th August across two stunning locations, Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay, festival-goers are in for a treat. When we say stunning, we mean stunning, the views are simply unbeatable. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, then we strongly suggest you get to know.
Watergate Bay is where all the festivalness happens, it’s where you can sing and dance to an unmissable line-up until your heart is content across a whole host of stages. On top of the headliners make sure you check out Giggs, Jorja Smith, The Wombats, Razorlight, Noel Gallagher’s favourite person, Lewis Capaldi, Slaves, Idles, we could go on but basically there is going to be looaaaadddsss of really good music across all of the days. There’s going to be a bunch of stages so check them all out and discover your new favourite artist. Also make sure you check out the sunset moment on the Corona Sunsets stage with Mr M, you won’t be disappointed.
Fistral Beach is the second location and is open to everyone. Conveniently it will be hosting the World Surf League which will bring the biggest names in surfing from 20 countries around the world so expect some wavey riders and no first timers trying to stand up for longer than 10 seconds here. Although, you can pre-book surf lessons if you think you might feel inspired. If you’re not sure how to cheer on surfing then we can’t really help you but you should definitely keep an eye out for Boardmasters’ surf ambassadors – Lucy Campbell, Luke Dillon and Tassy Swallow – just some of the UK’s most exciting surf talent will also be joining in the competition.
Boardmasters are pros when it comes to putting on a festival, not only have they been doing it since 1981, we were there a couple of years back hosting the official radio station and couldn’t fault the set up and organisation (just the weather). What we also noticed was that a lot of thought goes in to what is on offer beyond the music and this year is no different, with everything from aerial yoga, gong baths, life drawing, mindfulness, fitness, beach cleans, shopping and street food – loads right! Boardmasters’ Zennor Haven is the perfect place to relax and unwind, with its roots firmly embedded in legendary Cornish mermaid folklore, slow down and discover a world of mindfulness within its hidden walls. There will be coastal runs for fitness lovers, as well as beach cleans taking place throughout the festival to ensure the beautiful Cornish coastline is left spotless. The best independent clothing brands, local Cornish sellers and street food vendors will be at Boardmasters to keep everyone fed and in the festival spirit!
The best piece of advice we can give you is to make sure you get involved with it ALL to really feel the full Cornish, Boardmasters experience.
Camping tickets are SOLD OUT but luckily, there is still a chance to pick up some last minute day tickets so you can still pack up everything and head to the Cornish coast this weekend.
